New reports indicate that a dedicated console for PC games could be coming.
The report is coming from Ars Technica, who says, “Valve is developing a portable PC gaming system called SteamPal. The name of the system is likely to be changed before it is revealed publicly.”
A Redditor first noticed the Steampal codename in a line of code.
It is unknown what this console will be based on these sources, but both speculate that it could be similar to the Nintendo Switch console with steam controls.
There is no way to tell for sure what sort of processor or graphics card will be inside the machine or what kind of performance it may offer, nor are we sure what software will be running on it as of now. Steam OS, according to Ars Technica, may be the best option, but Microsoft doesn’t exclude a full-fledged Windows version.
It is not unusual for the new console to be shrouded in smoke and mirrors – the new steam controller was announced when it was available on the market. Valve’s policy here is not likely to change.
