Game designer Daniel Berlin of EA Dice discussed how extreme weather affects the combat in Battlefield 2042, which aired during yesterday’ss Xbox Games Showcase Extended.

A massive sand wall encompasses a side of the map on which Berliner illustrated his point. A sandstorm limits the player’s visibility, affecting a variety of weapons, tank, and helicopter types.
Moreover, debris will still alter map lighting after a sandstorm has passed, so its effects will still be present. The tornado from the first Battlefield 2042 trailer was also discussed by Berlin. There is no escaping the twisting wind column that roams the map to its own free will, causing havoc wherever it goes. The tornado is a massive disruptor and wherever the tornado goes disruption follows.
It alters an area’s physics by flinging cars, helicopters, and players around. The tornado will cause havoc while breaking up any fights and making outdoor areas inaccessible.

Berlin discussed the Plus System in relation to this. A new method for changing attachments during a match is now available using a new menu. Berlin cited the example that when the visibility is reduced during a sandstorm, players might want to change their weapon configuration. Additionally, it is useful for combat in confined spaces or when a tornado prevents combat in open spaces.
Players are in control of everything that happens in a match according to him, which is truly a sandbox in their hands.
